How to Tell if You Have Bedbugs
Bedbugs are insects that were almost unheard of following the Second World War. However, the banning of the pesticide DDT and increased overseas travel to areas where bedbugs are prevalent has led to a reoccurance of infestations in our country.
== Family, Health and Bed Bugs Tips == Acne and itchy skin... Those that fall into the preventative category are based around general skin conditioning to help stop itchy skin from forming; these include cleansers, make-up removers and other similar products that can help prevent the condition. Many people use products similar to this every day as part of their skin care regime; often this is irrespective of whether or not there is a problem condition. There are itchy skin skin care products that are more specialized in there approach; they ensure the facial pores (and other areas) remain free of oil. These products prevent the oil from getting trapped in pores and can hamper the growth of bacteria, this can lead to the bad skin condition.
Bedbugs are small insects that are brownish-red in color, have long antennae and flat bodies, and they feed on the blood of living hosts. Sleeping humans are their preferred targets, hence the name bedbugs. Most of the time, these pests live close to where they feed, which is most commonly mattresses.
So, how to tell if you have these pests? There are several things that can tip you off:
First of all, if you go to bed without bug bites and wake up with them, it is probably bedbugs. These bites are pretty similar in appearance to mosquito bites, and leave red, itchy, and burning welts and bumps on your skin. Also, bedbugs leave behind evidence in the form of dried excrement which shows up as dark spotting on your mattress or furniture. You may also see spots of blood as well. In places where infestation is especially severe, there may be an unpleasant odor.
Once bedbugs have been spotted, it's crucial to take action quickly. These pests can multiply quickly and have hundreds of offspring at one time. If left untreated, they'll spread from room to room and become an uncontrollable problem very quickly. This is why bedbugs are especially problematic for apartment buildings and hotels.
== Family, Health and Bed Bugs Tips == On children's eczema... Baby eczema is often the result of antibiotics given to the baby when it is born, as many doctors will attest. Treating babies requires a little more thought as they cannot tell us what irritates them so only bath them in lukewarm water and use fragrance free, hypoallergenic creams. Once out of the bath they need to be dried off carefully and then clothed in a soft natural cotton fabric which should prevent irritation. To stop a baby form scratching the irritated skin it is important to ensure they have their nails short and wear mittens which should help stop further infection. For infants with more serious baby eczema, antihistamine cream may be prescribed which should help stop the itching; steroid creams can also be used for a short period to help heal the skin. This is a difficult medical condition to not only control but overcome despite being a common complaint.
Frequent vacuuming of your mattress, furniture and carpet is one effective way to get rid of these critters. You can also steam clean your items. All bedding and plush toys should be immediately laundered. One way to prevent these pests from reaching your mattress is to cover the legs of your bed with double-sided tape or petroleum jelly. Bedbugs cannot fly, and they cannot climb very well, so these methods are often effective.
To remove bedbugs for good, you'll probably need the services of a professional pest controller. He or she will come into your home, inspect thoroughly for bedbugs and figure out exactly where they are. Once their location is determined, it will be time to get rid of them. There are a variety of ways a professional can rid your home of bedbugs, many of which are completely safe for children and pets.
